How to Use CoTalk

  1. Open a Design in Canva.
  2. Launch CoTalk: Find CoTalk in the “Apps” menu on the left sidebar.
  3. Enter Your Name: Type the name you want other participants to see.
  4. Join Audio: Click the “Join Voice Chat” button.
  5. Grant Permissions: A separate pop-up window will appear. Click “Allow” if the browser asks for microphone permission.
    • Note: Do not close this pop-up window while you want to talk. You can minimize it.
  6. Collaborate: You are now connected! You can see who else is in the room and talk to them in real-time.

Troubleshooting

“Microphone Access Denied”

  • Cause: The browser blocked microphone access.
  • Fix:
    1. Check the address bar in the pop-up window for a camera/microphone icon with a red “X”.
    2. Click it and select “Always allow…”.
    3. Refresh the pop-up page.

“Connecting…” Stuck Loop

  • Cause: Network firewall or poor internet connection.
  • Fix:
    1. Close the CoTalk app in Canva and the pop-up window.
    2. Refresh your Canva tab.
    3. Try joining again.

“Pop-up Blocked”

  • Cause: Your browser prevented the audio bridge window from opening.
  • Fix:
    1. Look for a “Pop-up blocked” icon in your address bar (usually top right).
    2. Click it and select “Always allow pop-ups from this site”.
    3. Click “Join Voice Chat” again.

No Sound?

  • Check Mute: Ensure you are not muted (look for the red microphone icon next to your name).
  • Volume: Check your computer’s speaker volume.
