Terms and Conditions for CoTalk

Last updated: January 12, 2026

Welcome to CoTalk! These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the CoTalk application (“App”), designed for real-time voice collaboration within Canva. By accessing or using CoTalk, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

1. Description of Service

CoTalk provides a voice communication layer for Canva designs, allowing users to communicate in real-time while collaborating. The App utilizes WebRTC technology for audio streaming and Firebase for signaling and room management.

2. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for your use of the App and for any content or audio you transmit. You agree not to use the App to:

  • Transmit any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Violate the privacy of others.
  • Impersonate any person or entity.
  • Engage in any activity that interferes with or disrupts the App or its servers.

3. Privacy and Data Usage

Your privacy is important to us.

  • Audio Data: Audio streams are transmitted directly between users (Peer-to-Peer) or via our secure audio bridge. We do not record or store your voice conversations.
  • Metadata: We store temporary metadata (such as your display name, mute status, and room presence) in our Realtime Database to facilitate the connection. This data is ephemeral and is removed when you leave the room.
  • Canva Data: We access basic design metadata (such as Design ID coverage) solely to create a unique room for your collaboration. We do not read or store your design content.

4. Microphone Access

To function, CoTalk requires access to your device’s microphone. You will be prompted to grant this permission via a pop-up bridge window. You may revoke this permission at any time through your browser settings, though doing so will prevent the App from functioning.

5. Intellectual Property

The CoTalk App and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by the developers and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property or proprietary rights laws.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis. We make no warranties, expressed or implied, regarding the reliability, accuracy, or availability of the service. We do not guarantee that the voice quality will be uninterrupted or error-free.

7. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall the CoTalk team be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your access to or use of or inability to access or use the App.

8. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. Your continued use of the App after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
